My Wedding Hair Updo

My hair on the day of my wedding was put up in a high pony tail. Then put into single loops and into a bun shaped style.

Then, using a hairpiece in the same color as my own hair, my hairdresser attached the hairpiece and braided it into a thick plait. The plait was then pinned around the outside of the curls.

The fringe of my hair was then swept to the side, to create an elegant Audrey Hepburn look. Sophistication Personified!

Wedding Place Settings

Wedding Place Settings

Create a stylish, simple place setting by using a large flower, real or faux, as beautiful napkin rings. This also gives your wedding guests a memento to take home.

Place the flower either on top or slightly wrap around the napkin at each table setting to create a simple, yet effective design.

When using real flowers avoid putting these out too early. As the temperature of the bridal reception room will cause the flower to wilt. The flower setting can be pre-ordered and delivered on the day of your wedding with your wedding flower order.

You can purchase faux flowers from any local home design stores.

Choose all flower colors to compliment your wedding theme.

Wedding Table Centrepiece Idea

For decorating Wedding Table Centrepieces on a budget try this:

Buy basic church candles, draw a simple design on the front with a pen or marker. Using a glue-pen go over the drawn design on the candle.

Dip the candle in colored sand or glitter. Leave to dry.

You are now left with a decorative and elegant candle at a pretty price. A gem of an idea for any wedding centerpiece.

Design Your Own Wedding Cake

Design Your Own Wedding Cake

When getting married in 2005 I decided to keep costs down I would create my own tiered wedding cake.

This is how, from start to finish, I created a beautiful and unique cake at a fraction of the cost. I hope you can use some of these techniques in helping you design something of your own for your special day.

I first decided which type of style I wanted which was the idea of a three tiered ivory iced round wedding cake which was tiered using glass fish bowls. I purchased three round ivory iced cakes, medium, large and extra large, from a superstore here in Ireland.

These cakes can be ordered online and picked up ready for collection. To give my guests variety the extra large cake was fruit, the large was sponge and the medium, chocolate. Each came with cake boards included which is great value. You may choose to purchase an extra cutting slab of cake if you would like an extra supply.

Make sure to pick up your cake a few days before the wedding as the cake needs aired.

I then purchased three fish bowls from Au Naturale which were slightly smaller than each of the cakes diameters. I then made sure each bowl was rinced and sparkling clean before decorating.

My colour scheme for my wedding was ivory and gold. I purchased gold ribbon from a local craft shop shaped in the form of butterflies and used this to decorate the outside of each cake. The ribbon was held in place with a cakepin.

I slightly filled the bottom of each fish bowl with gold coloured sand and then placed the heads of a few decorative water lilies on top of the sand. Next, I placed some decorative ivory and gold butterflies, which I purchased online from Confetti.co.uk, into the bowls also. A few of the butterflies I also used on the tops of the cake.

The finishing result was amazing. A three tiered ivory cake with glass bowls and butterflies. My dream cake at half the cost and most of all designed by me. My guest and husband to be were amazed and now I am called upon for advice for forthcoming weddings.

So you can now take the basics of my design and adapt to your own colour, theme and design to create something to be admired on your special day.
